Free Public Transport and Parking During the Riga’s 825th anniversary celebrations

There will be no charges for public transport or municipal parking during the Riga’s 825th anniversary celebrations, and additional public transport services will be provided.

On Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, residents and visitors will be able to use public transport and municipal parking services free of charge.
To ensure convenient access to festival venues and travel home, additional services will operate on several public transport routes.

Public transport

Throughout the weekend, travel on buses, trolleybuses and trams will be free of charge. Additional services will operate on most routes during the festival.

Additional daytime services

From 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., additional trips will operate on:

  • Bus routes: 2, 3, 24, 25, 52 and 53
  • Tram route: 1
  • Trolleybus routes: 4, 17, 18, 22 and 25

Additional evening and night services

Additional trips from the city centre will operate until 2:00 a.m. on August 16 on the following routes:

Additional trips will also operate on night bus route N7. In the city centre, buses on this route will follow a slightly modified route.

From the city centre: trips will start at the final stop of trolleybus route 15, “University of Latvia”. Buses will travel along Inženieru Street and Raiņa Boulevard before continuing along the usual route.

Towards the city centre: buses will follow the usual route to E. Benjamiņa Street, then continue via E. Benjamiņa Street, Marijas Street and Merķeļa Street. The bus will stop at the “Merķeļa Street” stop closest to the intersection with Marijas Street, providing convenient transfers to other night routes. It will then continue along Inženieru Street to the final stop of trolleybus route 15, “University of Latvia.”

Changes to traffic on August 15

As the main culminating events of the celebration will take place on the 11 November Embankment, changes to traffic and public transport will be introduced on Saturday, August 15, from 12:00 until the end of public transport operations.

All buses travelling across Akmens Bridge towards Pārdaugava will stop at the “Grēcinieku Street” stop. This is the stop currently served by trolleybus routes 9 and 27, bus route 22, and tram routes 1, 5, 8, 10 and 14.

Parking

Municipal paid parking lots managed by Rīgas satiksme will be available free of charge on August 15 and 16.

The exception is the underground parking facility at K. Valdemāra Street 5a, near the Congress Hall, where parking fees will apply according to the current tariffs.

Customer service centres

The Stacijas laukums 2 (Railway station square) Railway scustomer centre will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The customer centre at Akropole Alfa shopping centre will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

All other customer service centres will be closed over the weekend.
