Celebrating Golden Wedding Anniversary

Continuing a long-standing tradition, the Riga City Municipality will honor the Riga families celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary — 50 years of marriage. These couples registered their marriages in the distant year of 1976. In recent years, couples who have celebrated 60, 70, and even 80 years of marriage have also taken part in the event.

The festive ceremony will take place at the “Ziemeļblāzma” Culture Palace, which is surrounded by a picturesque park. The tradition of honouring couples who have been married for 50 years began in 2003. This year, the event is being held for the twenty-third time and remains one of the warmest, most heartfelt, and events of Riga’s birthday month.

The festive greeting is organized by the Riga City Municipality Association of Cultural Institutions in cooperation with the Riga City Registry Office.
