The Left Bank Festival invites Riga residents and visitors to rediscover Riga as an open city for open-minded people. The festival offers a full day of creative workshops, performances, sports activities, concerts by emerging musicians, and a special food area featuring participants from the Latvian leg of the European Street Food Awards. The evening will culminate with performances by Aija Andrejeva and the special concert project GUSTAVO and the Orchestra “Rīga”.
Stage Programme
The daytime programme will feature four promising young bands representing a variety of contemporary musical styles and sounds. Among them are Laiki, whose music blends rock, art rock, and original poetry; Gaisaa, combining pop with elements of funk and indie music, the indie rock band Idille and young Latvian musician, singer and songwriter Roberts Peičs with his band.
The evening programme includes two special concerts:
20:00 Aija Andrejeva and her accompanying band
21:30 GUSTAVO and the Orchestra “Rīga”
Festival Activities
Various activities throughout the park will be organised by neighbourhood associations, creative communities, and partner organisations, including Riga Technical University, Latvia’s State Forests, the European Movement-Latvia, the National Library of Latvia, CSDD, the Latvian Railway History Museum, Latvijas Pasts, Swedbank, Turība University, Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, the Children’s Clinical University Hospital, the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOK), and other partners.
Performance Area
The programme places special emphasis on the performance area. Visitors will be able to experience the Cēsis Small Theatre production Water Path, AHHAA science shows, the performance Femina Vas Hermeticum by BUTŌ Lab, and an experimental electronic music performance by Waterflower.
The skatepark will host BMX, rollerblading, skateboarding, and scooter demonstrations, as well as masterclasses led by professional athletes. Both experienced riders and beginners will have the opportunity to learn new skills or simply try out one of the sports using the equipment provided.
Participants: Nils Jansons and Artūrs Bogdanovičs (skateboarding), Lauris Gulbis (BMX), Dāvis Stumbergs (scooter), and program manager Einārs Lancmanis.
