Every Thursday in August — on August 6, 13, 20, and 27 — the Kalnciema Quarter will host an open-air concert series offering high-quality live music, intergenerational encounters, and informal cultural experiences in an urban setting. The concerts will take place in the courtyard of the Kalnciema Quarter, an ensemble of restored 19th-century wooden buildings that has been one of Riga’s most recognizable creative and cultural spaces for more than 15 years.
In this evening the Kalnciema Quarter will resonate with contemporary jazz and improvised music as one of the Baltic region’s leading saxophonists and composers, Kārlis Auziņš, performs with his quartet. A recipient of the Great Music Award 2024 and the Golden Microphone 2026, Auziņš creates a lively, nuanced, and free-flowing musical dialogue through the interplay of saxophone, drums, guitar, and double bass. The evening will be opened by young jazz musicians from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
