Concert “Open for the Jazz”

Latvian Radio Big Band, Lupa Band and Paula Saija

An exciting celebration of contemporary Latvian jazz, this concert brings together the Latvian Radio Big Band and Lupa Band, uniting some of Latvia’s best jazz musicians and the most vibrant sounds of modern fusion.

The programme will feature new compositions by Kārlis Vanags, alongside specially arranged works by Lupa for big band. The evening’s special guest is singer Paula Saija. Energy, improvisation, electronic textures, and the powerful sound of a big band come together to showcase the sound of Latvian jazz today.

Paula Saija emerged as a bright new star on the Latvian music scene in 2021. Among her greatest musical influences is the Riga Gospel Choir, with which she has been singing since 2017, as well as the jazz-funk band Very Cool People, with whom she continues to collaborate.
